Suddenly it seems the mud below comes alive. Two huge arms of mud sticks out of the mud followed by a skull with red gloring eyes and the rest of the body which is composed from shrubs, mud and tree roots

Noone know where the first Bog Horrors come from, but survivors who lived to tell the tale will never ever walk in the swamps again...ever!

Combat:
This mindless undead creature usually creeps within 10 ft. of a victim and slam the creature. As soon as it can, the Bog Horrors tries a grapple, then a pin and then it uses its immersion ability.

Constitution Damage (Su)
A living creature hit by the Bog Horrors claw attack suffers from normal damage and 1d4 constitution damage since it feeds of the life force of innocent bypassers.

Improved Grapple (Ex)
As usual...

Immersion (Ex)
When a Bog Horror pins a creature it uses its heavy mud body to force them down into the mud. Creatures immersed cannot breathe and start to suffocate. All rules for a normal pin applies.
When a creature dies from suffocation the Bog Horrors drags its body deep down into the murky water. It is unknown what happens next...

Tremorsense (Ex)
A Bog Horror is aware of everything touching bog or march within 60 ft.

How do you like it? I'm lousy at gussing CR's so where do you think it would be?

EDIT:
05/01:
Made it CR 5
Added Acid Resistance 5
Added DR 10/magic

Wow... no replies...

I imagine it would be CR 6 or 7 or maybe even higher it has constitution drain and that nasty immersion ability...

I would actualy say about CR 4 or 5. It's pretty much a large zombie with two powerful attacks and no single action.

I would also suggest adding a damage reduction, not much, something like 5/bashing and it's wet nature should give it some fire resistance. I'm not sure what attack would deal optimum damage to a bog monster. Otherwise it's a lovely slime monster :)

I added acid resistance 5 which is related to earth and basically it's composed of mud and trees and such. Also added DR 5/adamantine, the more I thought about it, the more I realised that piercing, slashing and bludgeoning would all fail to hurt the mudman, so you'd need above average weapons. Hard weapons, harder then steel. Is CR 6 alright?

Adamantite might not be the right one then. what about 10/magic? Magic is always good against insubstantial enemies. And I still think that CR 5 is just fine for this encounter.

Of course, still a bit rusty in the new DR system. CR 5 sounds fair now that I think about it
