The Bogannarr is a new CR4 demon detailed in this week's Random Encounters here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20040308a).

The flavor text and Combat section describe their tactics as follows: "The creature latches onto an opponent with all six legs and uses its tail to devastating effect."

However, the stats don't seem to bear this out as an effective tactic for these small creatures. They have four attacks - claw/claw/bite/tail with the tail being poisonous. They have Improved Grab with their claw attack (usable against a creature up to one size larger than them) but a grapple bonus of only +3. If they grapple, don't they suffer a -4 penatly on attacks with natural weapons against their grappled opponent (PHB p.156)? Also, the statement "you can't attack with two weapons while grappling, even if both are light weapons" may restrict them to only one natural attack a round (I am unclear on this). What benefit do these creatures gain by grappling?
