| Jarlaxle_The_Rogue01-16-05, 09:23 PM | Alright, so the idea is that I break monster abilities down into a smaller Monstrous Progression or LA by cutting out certain abilities that I don't really like or that I feel would be better represented by class levels. I'd bump up their CR by applying class levels. Yes this would be more work for me, but it'd be a better way to keep the players on their toes and also give more room for players who want to play something like an Angel. This is for a homebrew and I just wanted to know what you guys thought. |

This whould make manipulating easy but how do you weigh up negative like weakness to sunlight perhaps you could elaborate? Although i do like the idea of being able to confuse players who know the monster manual off by heart (like me) Chazmon |
| Jarlaxle_The_Rogue01-17-05, 03:53 PM | Mostly I mean cutting out abilities that I deem unnecessary or that I feel would be better represented by Class levels. For Example, a Solar I'd dock a lot of its HD and Spell-Like abilities, then replace them with class levels depending on how I wanted the creature to turn out in battle. This way its possible for more variety without a sky high CR. |
