Breath Weapon (Su): Bronze-gold half-breeds have two types of breath weapon, a cone of crackling fire (dealing half electricty damage and half fire damage) and either a cone of repulsion gas or a cone of weakening gas. This secondary breath weapon is inherited from one parent and does not change. (Roll once for each dragon.)

Repulsion Gas: Creatures within the cone must succeed on a Will save or be compelled to do nothing but move away from the dragon for 1d6 rounds plus 1 round per age category of the dragon. This is a mind-affecting compulsion enchantment effect.
Weakening Gas: Creatures within a cone of weakening gas must succeed on a Fortitude save or take 1 point of Strength damage per age category of the dragon.

Water Breathing (Ex): A bronze-gold half-breed dragon can breathe underwater indefinitely and can freely use its breath weapon, spells, and other abilities while submerged.

Alternate Form (Su): A very young or older bronze-gold half-breed can assume any animal or humanoid form of Medium size or smaller as a standard action three times per day. This ability functions as a polymorph spell cast on itself at its caster level, except that the dragon does not regain hit points for changing form and can only assume the form of an animal or humanoid. The dragon can remain in its animal or humanoid form until it chooses to assume a new one or return to its natural form.

Spell-Like Abilities: At will-speak with animals; 3/day-create food and water (adult or older), fog cloud (adult or older), detect thoughts (old or older); 1/day-geas/quest (old or older), sunburst (ancient or older), 1/day-control weather (great wyrm).

Skills: Disguise, Swim, and Survival are considered class skills for bronze-gold half-breed dragons.

03-21-04, 11:13 PM Looks good, but I don't think the random factor on the breath weapon is a good idea. The dragon should be in full control of what type of breath he uses to avoid unfortunate outcomes, like intending to weaken creatures standing at the edge of a cliff and repulsing them instead.

03-22-04, 03:57 AM I made a comment about crossbreeds' breath weapons in another thread about these kinds of dragons (dragon cross breeds in general).

The old Draconomicon had something like "Type A, 01-45%, Type B 46-90%, combined 91-100%" where Type A is the parent with more HD. Combined would be literally that; half the damage would be from one type, like fire, and the other half would be the other, like lightning (kinda like a permament element admixture feat). I believe the shape of the breath weapon was also that of the parent type inhereted, and the combined version was still a 50/50 on the shape. This is set from the dragon's hatching and doesn't change throughout its life.

In the case of dragons that have multiple types, check based on the two (damaging and non-damaging) seperately.

Maybe I could post it and have them go on a head to head battle...see who wins? :) just an Idea since you were gunna post a chromatic half-breed next.

I want to try a a REALLY deadly crossbreed...Blackflame Dragon...Red/Shadow? Come on...show your love...

Oh and you have full rights to use that idea if you want to make it yourself. I'd be honored to have an idea of mine used. ^_^

03-23-04, 03:49 AM I prefer the Bronze-Mist myself. Both dragons can easily occupy the same terrain and they could probably get along pretty well, making the breeding more likely.

Physically, the descriptions seem similar, except for the colorings. So it'd be easy to describe. A lot of the special abilities are the same, saving a few headaches in that department.

Breath Attacks: Cone of super-heated repulsion steam, and a line of sickening lightning.

Immunity to Fire, Acid, and Electricity and no elemental weakness. (you find the parent with it, and I'll throw it in)

I can understand the drive to create hybrid dragons as I created a Silver / Emerald shortly after getting the Draconomicon (as a dragon cohort to the character I created with UA: received the same day as the other book). I ended up making a few changes (in part for story purposes) which empowered it somewhat, but as it was never intended to get beyond the (Young) Adult stage she never became overpowered (as a Dragon Cohort to that particular NPC).

03-27-04, 02:10 AM You ought to buy the "slayers guide to dragons" written by Gary Gygax.

Its got 3rd edition rules for creating crossbreed dragosn, including how much it increases challenge ratings and stuff, so you can actually PLAY one of these fun combos.

For instance a cross breed doesnt neccisarily have all the good traits of both parents or it may,... its possible to have a combo breath AND access to the pure breath of each element, but you pay more of course in level adjustment.

Im playing a silver/gold crossbreed. Very cool since their immunities cancel out the vulnerabilities of the other :angel:

You need to get DM approval of course, but its a very good 3rd party book and the MAN Gary Gygax himself wrote it.
