| moosekickedmysisterstoof02-25-05, 12:27 PM | I posted this strange creature sometime ago, but I decided to revamp it like I often do with my other monsters. Also, I would like to get some feed back on it because I would like to see what you all think. Keep in mind that this monster is not really meant to be taken seriously, but is mostly just a weird idea I had one day. Any responses are appreciated! Thanx! :D Buggernaut Large Aberration Hit Dice: 6d8+9 (36 hp) Initiative: -1 Speed: 40ft (8 squares) AC:15 (–1 size, -1 Dex, +7 natural), touch 8, flat-footed 15 Base Attack/Grapple: +4/+10 Attack: Slam +5 melee (1d3+2) Full Attack: 2 slams +5 melee (1d3+2) Space/Reach: 10ft/10ft Special Attacks: - Special Qualities: Darkvision 60ft, Scent, Slick Spray Saves: Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4 Abilities: Str 14, Dex 9, Con 13, Int 6, Wis 8, Cha 6 Skills: Hide –1*, Listen +4, Spot +4 Feats: Alertness, Toughness, Run Environment: Temperate forest Organization: Solitary, pair, or party (4–5) Challenge Rating: ? Treasure: None (only food items) Alignment: Always neutral Advancement: - Level Adjustment: — As you enter the room, you see that a bizarre creature with multi-faceted eyes stands in the kitchen doorway, holding an assortment of cheeses and breads. It freezes in its tracks as you look it over. "So, you're the thief?" you yell at the top of your lungs. With a high-pitched scream, the creature throws all of the food it was carrying into the air and runs out into the night. Buggernauts are benign distant cousins of the ferocious umber hulk. Having virtually no survival skills, buggernauts are incapable of hunting for their own food, and thereby resort to wandering into to towns at night fall to raid the pantries of villagers. Buggernauts are not picky eaters, but they prize cheese over any other food, and will go to great lengths to get it. They are extremely skittish, and are terrified of virtually all humanoids, regardless of their size. An adult buggernaut stands about 8 feet tall and weighs between 400 to 500 pounds. They have a face that somewhat resembles that of a giant fly, complete with large compound eyes and a toothless proboscis that can release a slippery fluid. A pair of long antennae sprout from the head and swish about like the tail of a cat. Two long arms that end in blunt claws attach to the buggernauts thick torso, and the creature's body is held up by a pair of scrawny legs. Thin brownish hairs sprout from all over their bodies, and give them a surprisingly soft feel. Buggernauts speak their own language, which is a combination of clicks, whistles, and girlish screams. Combat: Although they are fairly strong, buggernauts are terribly cowardly, and can be put to flight by a mewing house cat or a boisterous halfling child. Buggernauts try to avoid combat at all costs and are capable of running away at great speeds. If an enemy proves to be faster than the buggernaut, it will spew a slippery fluid onto the ground in the hopes of tripping its foe. If the slick spray fails to thwart its foe, the buggernaut will flail blindly with its heavy fists until it is able to escape. Slick Spray (Ex): Once every 1d4 rounds a buggernaut can spew forth a slippery and nonflammable fluid into a 5ft by 5ft area. Any creature that steps in the slick spray must make a successful Balance check (DC 15) or slip and fall prone. *Skills: In areas of dense foliage, buggernauts gain a +4 racial bonus to hide checks. |
| Charles the druid02-25-05, 12:36 PM | odd creature, you should include bonuses to spot and search checks due to its fly like eyes |
| Nuntius12802-25-05, 02:15 PM | Muhahaha, buggery. |
| moosekickedmysisterstoof02-26-05, 03:16 PM | Thanx for the input! I'm going to give them bonuses to Search and Spot, but I can't remember how many skill points abberations get. Also, does anyone know what CR it should be? |
