I am trying to write up a campaign that spans at least 15 levels and have been working out the details of my BBEG.

He is going to be either a halfling or half-elf child that is a powerful sorcerer but is also posessed by a demon (or devil). I am just not sure how to go about statting out a possession. Do I add the half fiend template with out all the nifty physical alterations (IE: scaly skin, horns, wings, etc.)?

What are some suggestions.

Als oif there is perhaps a BBEG that is already built that I could base this guy off of could someone point me in that direction?

The Unholy Scion template from Heroes of Horror. The scion gains all mental bonuses as soon as he is concieved and has some nifty spell like abilities (including the ability to make his mother do anything)

Agreed. Unholy Scion makes for a great BBEG.

Other methods to look at might include standard demonic possession, as per Hordes of the Abyss, or as you mentioned using the half-fiend Template. The template is perhaps the easiest to stat out, and it has the drawback of being the most bland... but with just a pinch more work, you can tailor the template to you exact needs. I believe that in Web Enhancements section for the MM, you can still find an article that discusses customizing the template to your heart's desires.

Hope that helps~

Thanks guys, I think I may go with the Unholy Scion and throw on the half-fiend template for good measure. I might tweak the template a bit by adding some of the abilities of the possessing demon.

Should make for several hells of a BBEG:D

Just remember to include starts for him without the Unholy Scion and template parts. It's just safer that way.
