| Maniacal_Cackle01-22-06, 07:03 PM | Let's say that I want to make a half-fiend, troglodyte sorceror(1). How would you calculate CR for such a creature? I'm pretty sure in 3.0 you just added together the CRs, for a total of three. Is it the same in 3.5? It would seem a bit much to use level adjustment and make it CR 6 or so... Your help would be appreciated. |
| Athanatos01-22-06, 07:23 PM | Base Creature + Template first. So that's 1 (Trog) + 1 (Half-Fiend for a creature with 1 HD) = 2. Then we add CR from the classes. Here it depends on whether the class is considered "associated" or not- that is, whether it plays to the creature's strengths. I'd venture to say that Sorceror doesn't play to a Half-Fiend Troglodyte's strengths, so we add 1 CR for every two class levels (until class levels exceed racial HD, but that doesn't matter here). Round down, and we still get 2 CR. This page (http://d20srd.org/indexes/improvingMonsters.htm) should clear up any remaining confusion. |
