| obrysii06-18-04, 05:07 PM | Can a Nimblewright, despite being a construct, take character levels? It has 10 intelligance, so I don't see why it couldn't...can't all things with at least 3 intelligance have class levels? |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht06-18-04, 05:11 PM | Yes, it can. Although I wouldn't recommend giving a 3.0 Nimblewright class levels, because if it took Improved Critical it would have a 3-20 threat range. (In 3.5 a Nimblewright with Improved Critical "only" has a threat range of 9-20.) |
| NightScreamer2006-18-04, 06:52 PM | Er...No? A Nimblewright only has a crit range of 12-20. And ONLY with their Rapier-Hands, a natural weapon. That and Improved Critical doesn't stack with any other ability that increases the crit-range of a weapon. |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht06-18-04, 07:14 PM | There's nothing that increases the threat range of its rapier-hands. 12-20 is the natural threat range of them, just like 19-20 is the natural threat range of a longsword. |
| obrysii06-18-04, 09:07 PM | It is an Augmented Critical. It says nothing about how it cannot have the Improved Critical feat... |
| was_fired06-18-04, 09:36 PM | In 3.0 you are correct in 3.5 they don't stack. "This effect doesn’t stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon." |
| Vaalingrade Ashland06-18-04, 09:44 PM | Just because it rolled a crit doesn't mean it'll hit.... |
| Count Arioch the 28th06-18-04, 09:52 PM | I ruled that regardless of the weapons' crit ratings, it only increases the threat range by +1, and stacks with anything. Although, unless you were playing WP/VP, those critical hits won't eman too much. As Vaal put it, they won't hit all the time, and since they are natural weapons, they'll be a pain to get past DR. |
| obrysii06-18-04, 10:14 PM | One last question. Are the Rapier-hands subject to Weapon Finesse? |
| K.O.E.G06-18-04, 11:39 PM | I am nearly positive they are finessable |
| Count Arioch the 28th06-18-04, 11:45 PM | As natural weapons, they are indeed finessable. |
| NightScreamer2006-18-04, 11:47 PM | Yes. I believe so since the rest of all Natural Weapons are. |

It simply states what the threat range is for said attack. By your logic, Improved Critical cannot be applied to a longsword. Edited because I cna't spel |

| was_fired06-19-04, 01:01 AM | Hm it seems your right. It does need a fair number of modifications for 3.5 though. For example feats derived from HD which constructs can now gain. It seems the tarrasque's bite is a nice target for improved critical as well 15-20/x3. |
| obrysii06-19-04, 09:43 AM | The nimblewright gets TONS of bonus feats in 3.0 Which only helps when giving it class levels |

No. Natural weapons, ALL natural weapons, are stated of having a Crit Range of a natural 20. A Longswords NATURAL crit range is 19-20. Improved critical increases the Crit range of a longsword to 17-20. But NOT a Keen Longswords Crit Range from 17-20 to 15-20. Augmented Critical is a natural ability that is a much powerful form of Improved Critical that increases the threat range of natural weapons further than Improved Critical would have. Check any creature that has Augmented Critical, it increases the threat range further than 19-20 (which it would have been if taking Improved Critical). |

Augmented Critical is does not increase the threat range. It is a statement of what the natural threat range is. There are numerous examples in the Fiend Folio of Improved Critical stacking with Augmented Critical. |
