| celestialkin09-19-06, 07:59 AM | Hi. I'm brand new to these forums, and I'm hoping that you guys could help me with my question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that this will probably be an obvious/stupid question, but can a character class other than a druid, or magic user be chosen by a pseudodragon (from the Monster Manual I page:210) as a companion? The way I read it’s entry it seems that the dragon might present itself to anyone it feels is worth it's time, and is willing to spoil it with tons of attention during the game (which I am), as long as the character is not cruel or evil. I almost always play a rogue, but I like to play them as honorable and good intentioned, so the alignment and cruelty thing shouldn't be a problem. I really don't care about what benefits druids/magic users get from having a companion/familiar, since all I care about is having a fun little companion in game. In addition, having someone to care for would go nicely with my current character's fluff. |

Then there's the Dragon Cohort feat, treats a dragon's ECL as 3 lower so you could possibly get one advanced in HD and/or with some class levels. As for getting one for free via roleplay... eh, might be possible, but the DM may make you jump through a lot of hoops for it. |

| Seldriss09-19-06, 08:52 AM | Considering the way you present this, and how you seem to give priority to your roleplaying, I am pretty sure your DM should indulge you soon with one of these little newts. All he's got to do (or you) is to find an objective situation where a pseudodragon would see you, follow you for a while to observe your behavior and then introduce himself to you as the Great Defender of the Hazel Woods, looking for a mortal assistant to continue his holy crusade against nature defilers and nasty smelly green skins. Cooking skill is a must (keep a stock of cookies and candied fruits). Good luck and have fun... |

I will definitely look into those feats, and incase cooking isn't an option for me I'll stock up on plenty of treats to keep it happy. |
