| Saurstalk06-15-05, 04:35 PM | I have a female vampire spawn gnoll ranger3 rogue2 going up against the PCs. She has a BAB of +6/+1. She also has two-weapon fighting as her ranger-trait. Accordingly, she's get three clawed attacks if she so chose. Does this mean that she can also get three slam attacks? There's nothing in the rules to state only one slam per turn. Please let me know. Thanks. |
| primemover00306-15-05, 06:06 PM | No a Vampire never gets more than one slam. No matter how high their BAB is natural attacks aren't treated as iterative. A Lion has 2 claws and a bite whether it's 4 HD or 30HD, it's BAB can't improve on that attack routine... the Vampires slam follows the same rules. |

It can make iterative attacks with a weapon (such as a longsword) and make a natural attack with the hand no wielding the longsword and could make either a single slam or a single claw with that limb. The vampire could also choose to make a claw and a slam attack (with both at full BAB?). The only way you can make more than a single attack with a particular natural weapon is with an extra attack such as from the haste spell. |

No, she's not using "natural attacks," rather, improved unarmed strike is one of her feats. Thus, with that, a BAB of +6/+1, and two-weapon fighting, she gets three strikes. This is where the confusion came from. There is nothing to state specifically "1 slam attack per turn." So, I was wondering if, in using her three punches, she could do three slam attacks. |
| Wyrd Bearer06-17-05, 12:05 PM | She gets three unarmed strikes. Unarmed strikes are not slam attacks (a slam is an armed strike). Slam attacks are natural attacks. Natural attacks do not get more attacks based on BAB. Ever. So by the rules that govern natural attacks and thus the vampire's slam attack, no, she only gets one slam attack a round. |
