Here are some good examples: - Raptorans (from Races of the Wild) - Dragonborn with the Aspect of Wings (from Races of the Dragon) - Half-Dragons with the Dragon Wings feat (from Races of the Dragon) Can other winged creatures glide, or must they have absolutely the glide extraordinary ability ?
Talisman 05-22-06, 04:09 PM	According to the RAW, a creature must have an extraordinary ability listed in order to use it. No "implied" abilities. According to the Real World, most (but not all) flying creatures can glide for short distances. Generally, fliers that can glide are (relatively) large and have large wingspans. For example, birds of prey glide, as do seagulls. Songbirds, hummingbirds and bats do not. Bugs generally don't although you could make a case for dragonflies. Looks like a case-by-case decision. If the critter has big, slow wings (dragon, roc, etc) it can glide. If it has small wings or flaps rapidly (stirge, vargouille, big bugs) it can't. I live in the country. I know my birds.
