Can Blink Dogs come in breeds? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-22-05, 12:53 PM I realize that the normal blink dog looks just like the picture in the MM1, but do you suppose they could be bred to look differently? I really like Border Collies, and would like a blink dog that looks like that. However, I realize that they are not only intelligent, but also have a society, so I don't know if breeding would work.

12-22-05, 12:58 PM One could presume that a Blink Dog is a perfectly normal, but supernatural breed of dog. so if one could coerce the blink dog to mate with another dog they child would be a normal half breed, hopefully with the Blink Dog powers.
If you are the GM, what's stopping you from doing it anyway?

12-23-05, 05:01 PM Why not just say that, inyour campaign world, blink dogs look like border collies? No fuss, no muss, no explanation, that's just how they look.

12-23-05, 11:42 PM Well, looking at it from a genetic point of view, the key would be to breed Blink Dogs, selecting from each brood the animals that show the traits you want (for whatever particular breed). Then, from that brood, only breed the ones with the traits you want, etc. And eventually, after a whole bunch of generations, you have border collie blink dogs.
