| Tiamates11-05-06, 06:08 PM | Can Fire shiled treat as an spell resistance spell? Since the most spell clearly say that spell resistance is yes or no or see text but fire shield haven't. But in the description, it say. If the attacker has spell resistance, it applies to this effect. We know that "normal" golem do not have spell resistance. But Golem immune all magic ability say that if any spell that have spell resistance that spell will no direct effect. Evocation [Fire or Cold] Level: Fire 5, Sor/Wiz 4, Sun 4 Components: V, S, M/DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Personal Target: You Duration: 1 round/level (D) Any creature striking you with its body or a handheld weapon deals normal damage, but at the same time the attacker takes 1d6 points of damage +1 point per caster level (maximum +15). This damage is either cold damage (if the shield protects against fire-based attacks) or fire damage (if the shield protects against cold-based attacks). If the attacker has spell resistance, it applies to this effect. Creatures wielding weapons with exceptional reach are not subject to this damage if they attack you. Can anyone clarify it? |
| RavenDrake11-06-06, 03:34 AM | The golem's immunity specifically states that they are immune to any spell which allows spell resistance. Since the description of Fire Sheild says that spell resistance applies to any creature attacking the subject of the spell, then I would say they are immune to being damaged by a Fire Shield spell. |

I know the effect of resistance is ok, but for the fire damage to enemy that attack the golem, is it still effect? :P |
| RavenDrake11-06-06, 07:36 AM | Actually... I'm not sure. Nearly every other spell, even those that are totally beneficial like Mage Armour or Bull's Strength, have "Spell Resistance: Yes(Harmless)"... but not Fireshield. I would think that the precident set by just about every other spell would say that Fireshield should have a Spell Resistance: Yes(or Yes(Harmless)) line. Does anyone else know if this has recieved Errata, is an ommission, or what? |
| Bawitda11-06-06, 09:54 AM | Since the spell specifies only that spell resistance applies to one part of the spell (taking damage), it's reasonable to assume that spell resistance doesn't apply to the rest. So, fire shield could probably be cast on a golem, and a golem using fire damage would only do half damage to someone using chill shield, but if the golem attacked the person, it would take no damage itself. |
