| xdude80004-13-04, 07:33 PM | my question is is it with the power over wish to make a chararcter half-celestial i know that anything is possible with wish but if you wish for too much it will back fire is it too much to ask to be a half-celestial? |
| R.M.G.C.L.F.04-13-04, 08:40 PM | Yep. The wish spell cannot achieve such a thing. Perhaps if you talk with your DM you might be able to do a wish spell that makes you loose a number of levels equal to the half-celestial LA. |
| Edymnion04-13-04, 08:51 PM | Actually, Wish can do it. What you want are the Rituals from Savage Species. They're magical rites and rituals that add monsterous abilities and such to a character, like energy resistance. One of the most powerful rituals lets you change your species altogether, including the addition/subtraction of templates. If memory serves, one of the requirements for that particular ritual was a Wish spell. And btw, the rituals are NOT spells. You can learn any of the rituals whenever you could learn a new spell (aka at level up in a casting class). It isn't dependant of which level you take, so all of the real power is coming from the Wish. |
| Vanigo04-13-04, 09:02 PM | It's different that that, Edymnion. There are normal rituals, and then there are rules for just wishing. It says that it's more than a wish can usually do, and then suggests how to handle it without just saying "no." I'm not going to copy the whole thing, of course, but it involves a spellcraft check and not getting all the abilities of the creature. Also, you still get the level adjustment. |
| Ogre4Hire04-14-04, 07:14 PM | Not to mention the fact that becoming Half- Celestial is a very powerful Wish, and therefore has a high probablility of backfiring. However, Wish is also the fastest method of changing your race/type (one standard action as opposed to several weeks/months/years). |
| SirGog04-14-04, 10:19 PM | I'd allow the wish, but then give the character 4 negative levels, which cannot be dispelled, and only go away when the character would gain a level. This allows the character to become a half-celestial (ECL 4) over four levels, but using the power of wish to make that transformation instantaneous without being unbalancing. |

Wish might be too much actualy, you can preform a ritual from the Savage species book and it will have the same basic effect. But yeah Wish should work. |
| Sarig the Genie04-15-04, 12:13 PM | Here's a template class for it... (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040319a) Though you need to be Aasimar for that, but that was covered in the article before it (: But it doesn't just turn you into the creature though. |
| lostinabook24704-15-04, 09:54 PM | or, if the dm wanted to be evil, they could just alter the wish to make you a half lantern-archon...;) |
| Sarig the Genie04-16-04, 02:55 AM | Lantern Archons are petititioners, so wouldn't that also make you half dead? ;) |
| nick01200004-16-04, 03:22 AM | Yes, you can wish to be a half-celestial. The caster makes a Spellcraft check. For every point above 20, there is a 5% chance for the character being transformed to gain each ability of the target form. So if the caster gets a 28 on his check, there is a 40% chance to gain each of the abilities of the target form. Mods: If you feel this was too much, please edit this post. |
