Why is the carrion crawler not in the SRD?

They took it out of the 3.5 monster manual for some reason. No idea why. It was one of my fav monsters.

I believe it is still in the printed Monster Manual.

It's still in the 3.5 MM. :teach: Just like the beholder and the illithid, the carrion crawler is considered the intellectual property of WotC, and is thus not included in the SRD.

It's all the intellectual property of WotC.

They simply decided not to make them Open Gaming Content.

What I find bizarre is that although the illithid isn't OGC, the neothelid (which are baby illithids that were never implanted itno humans, and grew to huge size) are.

It's all the intellectual property of WotC. Yes and no. The SRD version of the Orc is the intellectual property of WotC, an orc in general is not.

So WotC could not stop me from making D20 stats of an orc for my own D20 supplement.

Thus they included it in the SRD since not including it wouldn't stop 3rd parties from using orcs.

Certain beings, like mind flayers or carriron crawlers, are in general the intellectual property of WotC.

I am simply not allowed to create my own D20 version of a mind flayer or carrion crawler for my own D20 supplement, since these creatures completly belong to WotC.

Thus excluding them from the SRD does prevent anyone from using these exclusive creatures.
