Carrying capacity for Air elementals [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-02-07, 03:43 PM I'm curious to know what the carrying capacity for Air Elementals is. Do they fall under the normal limit of only being able to fly while carrying a light load?

I question this as their only form of movement is flight and don't think that they should be pinned in place if they try to pick up an object to move it that weighs more then their light load. It would make their strength scores rather useless if this was the case.

I know it specifically states that they can move their full distance while carrying a number of creatures equal to the number of squares they occupy while in whirlwind form.

10-02-07, 07:08 PM The only precedent I have for this is the Soarwhale in the Arms and Equipment Guide. It is a mount (of sorts) that only possesses a Fly speed -- and its carrying capacity includes Medium and Heavy as well as merely Light loads.

10-03-07, 06:22 PM It's a bunch of wind. It's light load is the amount of weight said wind can support in the air. Due to higher force the lower it is, the air elemental can hold a much greater load (up to heavy load) and move it across the ground.

If you've ever seen an air hockey table, you know what I'm talking about.

10-04-07, 12:27 AM I guess I'll just go with the assumption that it can move across the ground at the heavier loads then. Which works for what I have planned anyway. Thanks for your opinions and ideas everyone.
