| seeds05-19-04, 07:32 AM | I was looking for a construct that could be created by a mage around leval 10 same as my PC’s. Finally found the Caryatid Column in the Fiend Folio book. I thought this might work and read through the creating part. “The creator must be 10th level and be able to cast arcane or divine spells…lesser geas, meld into stone, statue, and stone shape” Two things bugged me about this first; Although it reads “arcane or divine spells”, meld into stone is a divine only spell therefore the creator must be arcane and divine. Secondly the spell Statue is a level 7 arcane spell which a level 10 mage would not be able to use. So I was interested if anyone could clear up for me how a low level mage can create a Caryatid Column. Or if anyone has any suggestions on low level construct that could be a created by a level 10 mage. The constructs don’t have to have a high CR. Thanks for any help. |

You can look at Mongoose's Encyclopedia Arcane: Constructs if you want to be sure to find a golem or automaton that would be within the capacities of your NPC. However, you may be reluctant to buy a whole book just for one encounter. Finally, this one (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/ch/ch20001218b) is probably within the limit of your NPC. |
