Celestial Anarchic Template [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-13-05, 01:32 PM I have a wizard in my game with a clack that will allow her to summon a creature with the Anarchic Template from the Manual of the Planes.

When she asked if she can apply this to a Celestial Lion I told he no, but now that I am looking at it it seems a little plausible.

A Celestial creature is from a Good plane, and an Anarchic creature is from a Chaotic plane...

But both templates say that any creature of chaotic (or good for Celestial) and neultral creatures can have this template.

Would it seem plausible to combine these templates into one? I know, as a DM, I can do it...but from the RAW can I?

Also..."A Celestial creatures a more regal and more beautiful then there earthy counterparts. Celestial creaturess often come in metallic colors..."

"An Anarchic creature appears less finished, their features rough and uneven, their appearance more ragged and horrific..."

How would I discribe a creature (such as a Lion) with these templates?

05-13-05, 01:48 PM It's certainly possible.

Anything with an anarchic template should be possible from: Limbo, Ysgard, Arborea, Pandemonium, Abyss, and to a lesser extent perhaps (Beastlands and Carceri).

Being celestials and infused with good doesn't mean you can't also be infused with chaos. Good/Evil and Chaos/Law are just two totally different axis. Eladrin for instance, the celestial race native to Arborea, are the personifications of an equal mix of good and chaos, much like how the Tanar'ri (demons) are the personification of chaos and evil.

The descriptions for the templates are just a bit shallow. A celestial anarchic lion would perhaps be beautiful, but its features might never be entirely stable. It might shift colors, have slight features change that might be a trick of the light or might be really there, but it would always be something to literally bring a tear to your eye with how beautiful/noble it was.

So are you (Shemeska the Marauder) saying that a creature like this can exist in the outerplanes?

I guess it doesn't really matter because the cloak is what turns the summoned creature Anarchic anyways.

Yes, they can and do. The description of anarchic creatures really was poorly worded in the book however.
