shawmutt 11-08-07, 10:26 AM	I'm trying to figure this out and the text is ambiguous. I have a level 9 celestial fighter PC in my group. I like throwing in incorporeal creatures to give the magic users a chance to shine, and before I know it the fighter is jumping in and punching the monsters! He claims that his natural attacks are magic attacks, and therefore damage incorporeal creatures! The text states "If a celestial creature gains damage reduction, its natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction." This says to me that while the celestial can punch a creature with #/magic DR and give full damage, the celestial still can't hit an incorporeal. Any clarifications?
runestar 11-08-07, 10:51 AM	Funny you should ask...I was just reading the same entry from the FAQ...:D Does the monk’s ki strike (magic) only allow her to overcome damage reduction or does it make her natural attacks count as magic weapons for all effects (such as affecting incorporeal opponents)? The Player’s Handbook states that ki strike affects the monk’s unarmed strikes “for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction,” but says nothing about any other effects. Thus, the monk’s unarmed attacks aren’t considered magic weapons for any other purpose, including affecting incorporeal foes.
