Centaurs and weapon sizes [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-02-06, 02:23 PM so how can a centaur, with an upper body identical to that of a human, wield a large longsword? I realise that since it's horse legs make it large it becomes proficient with large weapons, but how much sense does that make in this case?

11-02-06, 02:27 PM I'm guessing it has something to do with the lower center of gravity, and the strength provided by the incredibly powerful horse-half. A centaur could get a lot of force behind an attack.

11-02-06, 03:36 PM I always picture their upper torsos being somewhat bigger than a human's as well. If a centaur sized upper body had proportionate human legs, it might by eight to nine feet tall.

I agree.

Anyone here ever see the new Narnia move? The centaurs in theire were visiblly bigger than their human(oid) counterparts. The weapons they wielded in the film were often bigger than normal weapons as well.

11-02-06, 05:14 PM I think it is basically just a way to keep everything within a standard large creature uses large weapon.

Then you could go ahead and add a special quality to the centaur: Small Torso and just have them use medium sized weapons.

I don't know reasoning behind it, just taking a stab in the dark with a 50% miss chance.
