Chameleon dragons are a rare breed of dragon that result from the offspring of Female Black Dragons and Male White Dragons, an unusual occurrence indeed. Chameleon dragons are Neutral Evil in Alignment, and as such can switch its temperament as easily as it changes colors. At birth, the scales of a Chameleon dragon are dark gray. As the dragon matures, the gray lightens in shades to an almost translucent color. However, the only time that one will see their hide in this color is upon it’s death, as a Chameleon dragon can change the color of its scales at will. Chameleon Dragons can speak Dragon.

Chameleon dragons are found in subterranean lairs. They prefer caves and underground areas that have a temperature of around 50 degrees, which is the same temperature as the dragon. They are excellent swimmers, and often have their lairs in underwater locations, which are often frosted over by the dragon’s breath weapon.
Chameleon dragons will eat almost anything that moves. They have a ferocious appetite when awake. They sleep roughly 1 month out of every four, though never more than six days in a row. All Chameleon dragons that have ever been reported are male, and it is unknown as to whether or not they are able to reproduce. Their hide is highly prized, as it can be made into a Cloak of Chameleon Power; which functions exactly like a Ring of Chameleon Power, that has the added powers of resistance to frost and acid (ER 12).

Chameleon dragons are masters of deception and ambush. With the ability to change the colors of their scales at will they are nearly undetectable to most forms of vision.
The favorite tactics of Chameleon dragons are to take on the appearance of another form of Dragon. They are able to mimic the appearance of any of the other draconic species, including chromatic, metallic, and gem. Upon seeing the dragon in another form, targets often prepare themselves for the specific type of breath weapon, immunities that a dragon of that color has. They usually avoid the forms of White or Black dragons, due to this. Their favored appearance is that of a Metallic dragon, as most targets assume that they are good-aligned because of this appearance. They also take the form of a Red dragon on occasion, as a group that is prepared for fire is ill-equipped for ice.
With their ability to use the breath weapon of either a White or a Black dragon, they can make formidable foes, especially when a party might be unprepared for the breath weapon of a Chameleon dragon.

Breath weapon(s):
A Chameleon dragon can breathe either corrosive acid, like a Black dragon, or a chilling cloud of ice, like a White dragon.
Like a Black dragon, a Chameleon dragon's breath weapon is a 5' wide stream of acid that extends 60' in a straight line from the dragon's head. All creatures caught in this stream must save vs. breath weapon for half damage.(see black dragon for damage according to age)
Like a White dragon, a Chameleon dragon’s breath weapon is a cone of frost 70' long, 5' wide at the dragon's mouth, and 25' wide at the base. Creatures caught in the blast may save vs. breath weapon for half damage. (see white dragon to see damage according to age)
A Chameleon dragon casts its spells and uses it’s magical abilities at 6th level, plus its combat modifier.

Special Attacks/Defenses:
Chameleon dragons are born with the following innate abilities:
All Age Categories: Water breathing, Ice Walking, Color Change (as Ring of Chameleon Power)
Juvenile: Darkness, 10’ radius, once per day per Age category, Fog cloud, as white dragon's
Adult: Gust of wind, Corrupt water, as aproprate parents
Old: Freezing fog, Plant growth, as aproprate parents
Venerable: Gust of Wind three times per day; Plant Growth once per day
Ancient: Wall of ice, Insect plague, as aproprate parents
Great Wyrm: Control weather, Charm reptiles, as aproprate parents

They also have the following immunities:
1 - Immunity to acid
2 - Immunity to cold

(for anything in question, see black dragon)

First, this is a really quaint monster that I would use with glee if I was DMing these days. Bravo, good show, thanks for reposting it.

I did have a few things I would change before I used it.
I would use the standard sizes for line and cone breath weapons for different sized dragons.
I would use the sorcerer level in the black dragon description for this dragon's sorcerer level.
I would mix in more of the white dragon's and black dragon's special abilities, like corrupt water, charm reptiles, insect plague, fog, freezing fog, wall of ice, control weather. I wouldn't put them all in, but probably half of each dragon's special abilities, staggered through the age categories.
Age White D Black D
Juvenile Fog cloud Darkness
Adult Gust of wind Corrupt water
Old Freezing fog Plant growth
Ancient Wall of ice Insect plague
Great Wyrm Control weather Charm reptiles
Let's say they've all got icewalking, then at the appropriate ages they get darkness, gust of wind, plant growth, wall of ice, and charm reptiles.
At a guess, I would change the CRs:
Wyrmling 4; very young 5; young 6; juvenile 9; young adult 11; adult 13; mature adult 16; old 18; very old 20; ancient 21; wyrm 22; great wyrm 24
(1 above the black dragon's CR up to juvenile, then 2 above from then on)
Finally, I would make the cloak of chameleon power have a flat resistance to acid and cold, like 10 or 12.

I would use the standard sizes for line and cone breath weapons for different sized dragons.

the descrpition said that the breath weapons are the same size as there apropirate parent

I would use the sorcerer level in the black dragon description for this dragon's sorcerer level.

so would i

Age\/ White D\/ Black D\/
Juvenile: Fog cloud, Darkness
Adult: Gust of wind, Corrupt water
Old: Freezing fog, Plant growth
Ancient: Wall of ice, Insect plague
Great Wyrm: Control weather, Charm reptiles

i'll use this chart, thanks :D

At a guess, I would change the CRs

i used BD as the base, then added the +2 of the half dragon template, it was easier that way.
