| Artector10-22-07, 10:40 PM | I'm running a heavily aquatic campaign and there's sparse monsters in the Monster Manual for water encounters. But I just had a thought, if an aquatic dragon (one with a swim speed) mated what if there was a chance it imparted slightly different traits to its heir? That way I could make a creature with a large dragon tail that lets him swim and can breathe water. I figure that I'd drop the wings and maybe put a penalty on dex (like the aquatic tempate). So no wings and -2 dex for Swim speed and waterbreathing? Would that be balanced for a +2 CR increase? (as per the usual half-dragon template) |
| Saefal10-23-07, 07:50 AM | You can also use the rules variants wherein the half dragon gains an ability of it's parent dragon instead of a breath weapon. Blacks, Greens, Golds and Bronze give water breathing/swim speed. Still a +3 though. I would drop the Str. Bonus to a +4 to make the template +2la instead of +3la |
