Well, I've used this chimera type of creature a couple times, only, i didn't specifically give it an actual entry up till now...
It's pretty tough and i realise that, It's for a gestalt campaign, i run, What i want some help with is determining the CR of this creature, I am thinking something along the lines of 7 or so, but i am far from certain, since i can see it being very difficult to beat in any situation.

and of course, sharing my invention.

This doesn't Replace the MM chimera in m worls, but this is a real chimera as i see them.

My world is an itneresinting world, in some ways, it's set in our world in the 1200's, heavil fantasticized or something, There are two worlds in my world so to speak, Theres the normal world, and nether world, nether world is where the elves abd faeries live(d), however due to their actions they created the demons which has turned the elven world into some kind fo a shadow world, mixed between, shadow plane, inferno and the abyss, (and a handfull of other fun things)
The elves, are also quite different from normal elves, the way their souls have been tainted has caused them, to emanate a small shroud of darkness aroudn themselves, but i will get around to that in another thread, when i make the elven statistic line.

I threw my party at one of these beasts at lvl 3,

Now before ya comment that, the party is "gestalted" racial on one ladder and classes on another

one is a succubus, another is a dragon, the third is an illithid, the party leader is a wight, interesting to see them on their quest to join the crusades (I jsut put together the world and tossed them into it, they're running the show tho)

anyways on to the chimera

CR:

In the mists before you you see an elf, no an orc , no a girl...
the creature before you changes shapes at a pace equal to that of you'r heartbeat.
As you come to grips with it's demeanor, it launches itself at you, Claws, no fangs bared in a hungry grin.

Dual presence:
The very essence of the chimera exists on all the sub planes of the material plane and on the material plane at any given time, This causes all attacks performed by the chimera to function as melee touch attacks, this however, removes any strneght bonus the Chimera might have from the damage roll)

Semi Illusory nature:
The chimera, partiall consists on the shadow plane, which has the drwaback, that any creature on the ethereal plane or material plane, which realises the chimeras semi illusory nature, is just that and see sthrough it, will only recieve half the damage otherwise caused by the chimera, and gain a +4 save modifier against it's soul feeding ability.(the save DC to see through the illusory nature is: 10+1/2 HD+cha modifier, standard 19)

Countless forms at once:
Should anyone penetrate the semi illusory nature of the chimera, what they see is a core of energy, encompassed by a multitude of forms, This immidiately but momentarily drives the viewer insane. The viewer takes a wilpower save dc: 10+hd+charisma modifier of the chimera, usually 22.Failure by 10 or more, causes 3x1d6 intelligence, wisdom or charisma damage, each die determined randomly by the gamemaster.Failure by 9 or less causes half ability damageSuccess causes ability damage of 1 to a randomly determined mental ability.

Soul feeding:
The chimera is capable of draining the souls of any creature from the material plane.
Any time the chimera hits an enemy, the enemy takes a willpower save, DC 10+1/2HD+charisma mod (usually 19)Failure, causes the Chimera to drain 2d3 charisma, thereby gaining 2 HP/charisma drained, as per the rules for ability/level drain. The chimera is capable of rising above it's normal maximum HP through this ability, this is especially worth of note for the chimers soul growth ability mentioned below. This drain is possible even on creatures immune to such drain as long as they posess a charisma score, albeti, creatures normally immune, only recieve 1d3 damage, not 2d3

Soul GRowth:
If at any time a chimera grows to have 50% HP more than her base HP, The chimera grows and obtains another hit dice, THIS evolution, resets its HP to the new maximum.

Everchange:
Every round, the chimera can swap one physical attribute to that of another creature, These features are: Size, natural weaponry, skin, senses, physical abilities
