| Moritz08-14-06, 02:22 PM | CHIMERIC CREATURE Chimeric is a template that can be added to any two or more living corporeal creatures. • Size and type: The creature’s size and type is the same as the creature with more hit dice’s size and type. If that base creature is an animal, the type is magical beast instead. If most of the base creatures were of the same type, the chimeric creature is of that type instead. For example a lion-crocodile-mind flayer chimeric creature would be a magical beast while a cat-wyrm-human would be a dragon. • Speed: The creature has all the modes of movement of all the base creatures using the best ones in the same modes. • Armor class: the creature’s natural armor bonus is equal to the sum of all the base creatures’ nat. armor divided by the number of base creatures (round down). The creature also has any other armor class bonuses of the base creatures using the best ones for the same types. • Attacks: The creature has all the natural attack forms of the base creatures and deals damage according to their size, strength and other modifiers. • Hit dice: The creature has the same hit dice as the creature with more hit dice plus one quarter of the other base creatures’ hit dice (round down and reroll for type change). • Special Attacks: The creature has all the special attacks of all the base creatures as well as their spellcasting and psionics (all spellcasting abilities are separate, power points are summed and the creature knows all the powers of the base creatures). • Special Qualities: The creature has all the special qualities of the base creatures using the best ones in the same cases such as damage reduction or energy resistance. • Abilities: The creature has the best of the base creatures’ scores in strength and constitution. For dexterity, intelligence, wisdom and charisma use half the best ability scores or the worst ones (whichever is higher). • Feats: The creature has all the base creatures’ feats except of those for which the creature does no longer qualify such as race or minimum ability scores. • Skills: The creature has all the ranks of the base creatures as well as any type of bonus (ranks don’t stack). Don’t recalculate ranks for type change. Ability modifiers change accordingly. • Challenge rating and LA: ideas please Class levels are added after the template and don’t stack Multiheaded chimeric creatures: Some chimeric creatures have multiple heads. You may use the multiheaded template from savage species for these creatures with the following exceptions: • A chimeric creature can’t have more heads than base creatures. • Each head represents a base creature and is the only head that can use that base creature‘s attacks and special attacks that require a head. Special attacks (not simple attacks) requiring a head from base creatures that are not represented by a head can be used by all heads. LIFE FUSER (item creation) You have mastered the art of fusing mind and flesh of various creatures into one being. Prerequisites: graft flesh, ability to cast clone or regeneration, heal 10 ranks, knowledge (nature) 8 ranks, spell craft 18 ranks Benefit: You can create a chimeric creature out of two or more corporeal living creatures which must be willing or unable to move for at least the first half of the creation time. Fusing creatures requires one day and 1000 gp for each hit die of the resulting chimeric creature and twice that number of hit dice divided in 1/25 in XP (round up). The resulting chimeric creature is not under the creator’s control when created and may even attack if normal. Also, it has all the memories of the base creatures, some in a vague way. Special: By making a successful knowledge (nature) check (DC 25) the creator modify the following things: • Make the chimeric creature have the total of the best dexterity score instead of half. • Make the chimeric creature not to have particular special attacks or special qualities or have other versions of these of the base creatures instead of the best one (such as damage reduction or energy resistance). • Make the chimeric creature not to have a particular mode of movement or use other versions of these of the base creatures instead of the best one. Note: I'm not trying to emulate the way the chimera monster was designed. Just a possible formula for making a wicked wizard's experiment combining the best characteristics of several beasts. |
