Dragon Magazine #323, Spetember Issue 2004, page #34 (Yes, I was bored enough to flip though my last 100 or so copies of dragon looking for the specific Silicon Sorcery article, sue me :P )

If it wouldn't violate the CoC, I would LOVE to see someone toss the stat block up here. I don't have any issues of Dragon, so I'll probably never see it otherwise. :weep:

Unfortunately not even an ounce of that Magazine article is considered open game content, nor may it be reproduced without express permission from Paizo.

It's not that hard to make otherwise, Just think of it as a Large (flightless) Bird (animal), that's an incredible runner (above average Con coupled with some feats along that effect), and is pretty easy to smack around even by a party of 1st-levels (low-HD), and no real special qualities (unless you're going Golden or other color, which are not listed in this article, black is, and the only difference is it isn't flightless).

There, I think that just gave some parameters without violating CoC or OGL.

That's very helpful, Eclipse. Thanks! :)

It may be also good to point out to give it a Str on par with that of a Horse (any you feel is apprpriate) to allow it to be ridden. Heck, I honestly think they pinned the strength as too low in the article because in reality Chocobo are bipeds, not quadropeds, thus they can't really carry that much in terms of a rider/barding/saddlebags.

This is probably what you are talking about:

Chocobo board (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=619512)

You could also goHere (http://ca.geocities.com/rinndarkdragon/Dryad3.html)

Information on black (flying) chocobos can be found in the article as well. Best damn write-up of a chocobo that I've ever seen. The author obviously was a Final Fantasy fan.

Oh, and the article calls them riding birds, but they're chocobos...Paizo just has to give it a generic, uncopyrighted name.
