Class levels added, special attack DC up? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-24-05, 03:26 AM When adding class levels to something with a special attack (i.e. the mind flayers mind blast), do those class levels count as HD when claculating the attacks DC?

I saw somewhere, where they did not. I don't remember where, but it was official. That means a high level sea hag sorcereress' evil eye, or horrific appearence attacks would only increase with better charisma. That's a little disappointing, to say the least.

07-24-05, 11:46 AM Class levels do not improve the DCs of a creature's special abilities--only racial hit dice do that.

Whenever you see a "characters" write-up for a creature with spell resistance, it indicates that the spell resistance is equal to some number + class levels. (I know of know exceptions to this.) However, this is not a general rule. Nevertheless, I treat it as such when designing my own NPCs.
