| Eri05-06-04, 07:57 AM | I was just wondering about some things: At school, my friends play DnD, but I have to wait until their next adventure before I can create my character. My character is Alariel, a 12-year old half platinum dragon (I'm playing 3rd Edition.) The only problem is that I don't know what classes are available to him. I want him to use magic, but two of my friends are already sorcerers and one is already a cleric. What class should I pick for Alariel that lets him use magic? |
| DMsDelight05-06-04, 11:36 AM | Paladin or Ranger, perhaps. They get spells a little later, but they also have some good combat skills. |
| Cyric05-07-04, 11:25 AM | Have you tried psionics? It's similiar to magic but gives a little more leeway. Since my first experience with it I don't anything else. |

Half-Dragons get a nice boost to Charisma, they get natural armor and a Strength boost so you can fight if you must, you can cast some spells and wear some armor. Druid isn't half bad. You'd get some claw/bite-boosting spells (magic fang), and an animal companion to help you fight. Psychic Warrior is a very fun option. You'd get even more claw-boosting powers than a Druid gets, and you'd have Fighter-like bonus feats to improve your combat prowess. A tattoo'd half-dragon with energized claws makes a cool mental image, too. -- N |

Psychic Warrior is a pretty cool idea for a Half Dragon since if your playing 3.0 alot of those Psychic Warrior powers use Str and Con as their primary ability score for DC's if any. a Favored Soul might be interesting if you want a divine casting with Monk saves and Monk BAB (no flurry of blows though) and its spontantous spell casting to which screams dragon. You could choose chose Bahamut as your Deity and gain Weapon Focus Claw as a bonus feat and eventually Weapon Specialization Claw as a bonus feat. The 3 Types of elemental resistances add your rare dragon kind heritage and eventually you'll grow wings (maybe with a little DM coaxing you can have him say they look like Platinum dragon wings.) |
