A bogey-bear is a huge loping creature. Its bare bones are clung with sticky black flesh about the joints, chest, and head. Its jaw seems stiff shut with rigor mortis, milky blue eyes staring out, and a twitching, wolf-like nose that seems to sniff out your very soul. Its ears resemble nothing so much as the wings of a bat. It carries a human child slung over its shoulder like a sack of beats.

Bogey-bears are undead bugbears usually forged by a goblin magic ritual. (they can be created by a create undead spell at any caster level). On occasion, bugbears with their flesh torn off by some spawning undead or violently and painfully slain with acid or fire rise as bogey-bears.

A Bogey-bear's primary goal is to abduct human children. In their vague mental dissonance they take upon the task with an ogrish obsession. They usually sneak in at night using their door of darkness ability, and they release their mouthless howl when they run into trouble. When a bogey-bear successfully aquires a child, the usually pass it on to other goblins so it can be converted into one of them with magic rituals or sacrificed to some dark god, or give it to fiends. Generally they enjoy taking more than the actual possession. They prefer to satisfy ther diet-dependent trait with by slaying adult humanoids in remote places.

Bogey-bears speak goblin and abyssal.

Combat:

Frightful Presence(ex): will save dc:13 (+2 racial bonus to the DC) negates, range 30ft. Creatures that save successfuly do not need to make saves against the same bogey-bear's frightful presence again for 24 hours. Creatures with 3HD or less become shaken for 5d6 rounds, those with 1HD or less are frightened instead.

Snatch Fallen(ex): a bogey-bear that renders a creature dead or unconcious with its claw attack can snatch them up as a free action.

Morbid Tenderness(ex): a bogey-bear can deal subdual damage with its natural weapons at no penalty.

Mouthless Howl(su): once per day, a bogey-bear can create a shrill nasal roar of sound. It creates the same effect as a shatter spell, and it has a chance to sumon other undead goblinoids to its aid. They arrive 2 rounds later. There is a 51% of 2 dread goblins arriving or a 33% chance of a hobbergok.

Light vulnerability(ex): direct exposure to light is harmful to a bogey-bear. It takes 1d8 damage per minute in bright light (such as that of a daylight spell) or 1d8 damage per hour in normal full light (such as that of a light spell). It takes double damage form all light-based attacks (such as a Searing Light spell or a lantern archon's light rays).

Blindsight(ex): a bogey-bear can detect creatures and objects by echolocation. This blindsight is negated in an area of silence.

Diet Dependent: a bogey-bear has diet dependent(brains). See libris mortis for the diet dependent trait.

Livescent(su): a bogey-bear can sniff out life auras. It can detect living creatures as if by a detect undead spell, and it has the benefits of a constant deathwatch effect. Anything that negates scent also negates the bogey-bear's livescent.

Door of Darkness(su): this effect is similar to a dimension door spell, except in two distinct ways. First, it travels through the plane of shadow, rather than the astral plane. Secondly it can only emerge in a dark, shadowed place, such as inside a closet or under a bed. This can be used twice per day.

I was despairing that I would never come up with a good low level adventure idea for my players this weekend, and I come upon this thread. Thank you!

Feat: Alertness, weapon focus(claw), toughness(B), ability focus(frightful presence)
Looks like it may have one extra feat. Unless you meant the ability focus to be a bonus feat.

CR looks about right, maaaybe a 4 but definately not a 5. You may want to rename the Snatch ability, just so people don't get it confused with the monster feat.

As with all your creatures in this series awesome imagery and ingenuity. Great work!

No extra feat. It's got one feat plus another feat for its hit dice.

Rightcha. I'll rename it to Snatch Fallen.

No extra feat. It's got one feat plus another feat for its hit dice.
Well, its got 4 feats total.
1 bonus feat: Toughness
then
1. Alertness
2. Weapon Focus(claw)
3. Ability Focus(frightful presence)

Should only have 2 feats for 3HD

Rightcha. I'll rename it to Snatch Fallen.
Oo, cool name.
