The wounds of their death flicker with a subdued green phosphorescence. Umbral hounds sometimes rise when a blink dog is slain by necromantic magic or beasts from the plane of shadow. They still retain their moral-ethical outlook, mind, and soul, but it is colored by the dream-like state of undeath. Their connection to the ethereal plane is lost, and instead their powers link them to the plane of shadow. Umbral hounds behave largely as they did in life, with some adjustments. They feel more kinship with undead canines, but they still remain loyal to their former pack. Umbral hounds have some trouble understanding that they are frightening to most living creatures. They often wind up becoming engaged in unfortunate skirmishes with hasty adventurers. Umbral hounds speak Blink Dog and Celestial. Combat: Shadow Walk(su): usable once per day, functions as if the spell at a 4th caster level. Shadow Blink(su): this functions as blink, but the umbral hound blinks into and from the Plane of Shadow instead of the ethereal plane. Shadow Fang(su): a creature hit by an umbral hound’s bite attack must make a fortitude save dc:14 (dc wisdom-based, +2 racial bonus to dc) or take 2 temporary strength damage and be blinded for one round. |

| BladefellMaster07-25-06, 02:01 AM | Cool. I'd never thought to create unfortunate undead from good aligned creature that remaine good. I'd give them a CR 3 though. |

| Rakasha#507-26-06, 12:30 PM | :D Good...Again, never seen the 'Remains good even after death' thing. |
| Dracomortis07-26-06, 12:39 PM | I like it. It's a refreshing break from the "undead is evil" trend, and turns an old classic into a new and interesting challenge. Bravo. |
