| Kharanax10-25-03, 07:39 AM | The +4 bonus to Strength the arm grants when using the arm does not have a type. Does that mean that a creature with two Clawed Arm grafts gets a +8 bonus to Strength when using a two-handed weapon? It would seem so, as the bonus is untyped. Now, how about a (smarter than average) Girallon with four Clawed Arm grafts using a four-handed weapon (as per Savage Species), it would seem to be a +16 bonus to Str, which is further multiplied for using a multiarmed weapon. My question: How are melee-type Evil PCs (who have access to planar travel) supposed to NOT want two of those grafts? They are already evil, so the alignment shift is not a problem in the slightest for them. |
| VigorMortis10-25-03, 06:01 PM | Yeah, they want it. So what? Only fiends can make such grafts. Were I a Fiend of Corruption, I'd want their souls in exchange. |
| Kharanax10-25-03, 06:04 PM | The price indicated in the Fiend Folio (50 000 gp per arm), seems steep, but it is not to epic level adventurers. and +4 Str is a decent boost to even epic adventurers. |
| VigorMortis10-25-03, 08:14 PM | I believe the point of the grafts is that if you wish to put yourself utterly at the mercy of fiends and aberrations and be made into a grotesque freak of nature, that you should receive significant benefits for doing so. But I myself still find such things as vend-a-clerics and magic-marts ridiculous. "Why yes, we have +4 keen vorpal rapiers in stock! Just this way." Anyway... if you don't think having to subject yourself to the mercy of fiends is enough of a price... what is? |
