| Candin05-26-07, 09:58 PM | So the DM of the game I'm running has created some magical items (well, artifacts I suppose) that require certain rituals to "unlock" their abilities. I came into possession of one such item, and in order to "unlock" part of it's abilities, I need to fight an invisible stalker and destroy it single handedly. I'm playing a Sorcerer 5 / Wild Mage 3, and I'm curious if anyone has some clever ideas for going about this. I'm pretty certain I'm just going to have one summoned (easier than going to the Plane of Air and beating one down) a hundred or so feet away, so I can get some decent shots in on it. What those shots are, I'm not sure yet. My initial thoughts were to just hit it with a banishment scroll, but it's likely that my DM isn't gonna' let it count (presumably summoning one meets the requisites, despite the fact that I don't "kill" it) since it just boots them off the material plane. Anyone have some cool ideas to dispatch an invisible stalker in a short amount of time? Bottom line I suppose I can use black tentacles and hope to god I get enough time to put it down. Oh, and how is the stalker's natural invisibility going to affect my spells? Can I target a stalker if I have see invisibility, or am I reduced to area spells? |

Scroll of maximised empowered twinned magic missle at caster level 9 anyone? Wouldn't that be the equivalent of a 10th level spell? If it's do-able then the scroll's only 2250, but I'm not sure if the rules let you scribe spell levels higher than 9th level. |

Then just die and come back as a half-ogre barbarian with a really big stick and whomp it to death. HULK SMASH! |

The stalker doesn't have any options but trying to whomp you one, so blur, mirror image and other similiar spells are your friend for this fight. Should be easy enough, though, the stalker only has 52 hp. |

| Candin05-27-07, 02:46 PM | Yeah they're legacy weapons. I don't entirely like the idea of throwing them our way (especially at 8th level). Apparently he made up items crafted to each of our playstyles. He has a habit of creating artifacts for us, I just hope this time around it's done with better taste... I'm kind of curious what he encorporated into the weapon, to see how well my DM's "judged" my character. |
