A clinging medina has a pale turquoise body with something close to hair but with a distinctly tendril-ish air about it. It has a long powerful tail in lue of legs and four strong but slender tentacles. Its face is smooth and featureless save a wide toothy mouth and an implied sneer. All of this grows improbably out of a chubby femanine torso.

Clinging medinas are a playful and enigmatic creatures with a nefarious streak. They tend to lurk in the shadows and cover and trail adventuring parties just a little behind them. Clinging medinas are predatory but sentimental creatures, and a would-be devourer can be easily haulted with a moving story advocating the speaker's survival, be it diplomacy or bluff. Their finely molded senses give them a stronger than usual ability to percieve the feelings and intentions of others. They can be quick to anger, especially if they feel they are being decieved, but are also quick to back off. Unless very hungry, they usually don't attack with fatal intent.

Clinging medinas have little or no social structure, and tend to roam around in some general area. They have some defined home, usually marked by a cluster of rocks, messy leftovers wrapped in grass, a ditch, cave, stick hut, or other crude resting places, and a few treasures. They tend to be guarded with false leomund's traps, warning magic mouths, and snake sigils. The medinas leave their scent heavy about the place, and creatures with the scent feat have a +7 bonus to track attempts to find it.

Clinging Medinas speak aquan and undercommon. Medinas of greater than average intellect also learn to speak common and/or draconic.

Combat: clinging medinas are slow to direct combat. When they decide to target somebody in a hostile manner, they do so by sneaking along after them, creating little strange noises, voices in the mist, etc. to get them uneasy.

Pull Punches(ex): a clinging medina can choose to deal subdual damage at will.

Improved Snag(ex): this is similar to improved grab, except that it functions regardless of size class, and the medina has a +1 bonus to the grapple check for every tentacle that hits.

Transfigurative embrace(su): a clinging medina that successfully embraces an opponent (grapple for unwilling) can choose to start saturating them with a transformative power. They take 1d6 strength damage and 1d12 subdual damage each round from this transmuting process. When reduced to unconciousness or zero strength, the are magically changed into a creature of the medina's choice as if by polymorph(3.0), except that they retain the power of speech regardless of the new form.

Facial Shift(ex): a clinging medina can alter its face as a quickened action to match that of any person (humanoid-shaped) it has seen, or seen in a portrait, sculpture, or other likeness. This has a disconcerting effect: people who know the person well suffer a -1 morale penalty on their attack rolls, but if the face is their own or that of a deceased loved one they suffer a -2 morale penalty to attack rolls, -1 to damage rolls, and they are shaken for one round. In either case the effect is negated by a will save dc:16 (cha-based, +2 racial dc). Opponents must make a new save for each new face assumed.

Swallow Whole(ex): a clinging medina has a highly elastic jaw and digestive track that allow it to swallow grappled creautres of up to large size with another successful grapple check (as if to pin). It can swallow up to two medium creatures, one large creature and one small creature, four small creautres, or eight tiny creatures.
Creatures swallowed by a clinging medina take 1d6+3 bludgeoning damage per round and 1d12+2 acid damage per round. A creature with a light peircing or slashing weapon can cut its way free by dealing 8 damage to the gullet. Attacks against the gullet automatically hit. One round afterwards a muscular action closes the hole.

Voice Mimick(ex): a clinging medina can emulate any sound it hears perfectly, and can create sounds by combining or based on description with a good degree of accuracy (bluff check at a +10 bonus opposing listen check).

Amphibious(ex): a clinging medina can breath water or air, or even mud.

Final Shriek(su): when a clinging medina's head is severed, it lets loose a
scream dealng 1d12 sonic damage to those within 30ft and causing all who hear it to be shaken for 1d6 rounds. The clinging medina can survive with its head detached indefinately, and the beheaded body will lie passively and grab anything that comes close, releasing afterwards if it proves not to be its head. The head can move at a speed of 5ft (swim 10ft) and can latch itself back to the body as a full-round action, and has HP equal to 1/5th the hp of the body.

Spell-Like Abilities(sp): once per day fog cloud, scare, magic mouth, sepia snake sigil, leomund's trap, twice per day: dancing lights, lesser confusion

Any feedback? Flavor? Balance? Thoughts?

I'm not very adept at grading battle mechanics, but I do have a flavor question. I like how the elastic jaw can allow it to swallow up to large sized creatures, but where do they go once swallowed? (maybe I'm missing this in the flavor) The creature would have to have a rubber body like a balloon or something to hold a creature larger than itself. And assuming it tries to Swallow Whole something that's still alive, what are the checks for trying to crawl back out or cut your way out from the inside?

The creature's entire body is abominably elastic.

Climbing out would consist of an opposed grapple check (creatures swallowed are still considered grappled).

As for cutting your way free, I forgot to list that.
