just came up with a template, dunno if it is good...

Clockwork creature

this template may be aquired by any corporeal creature(not plant, ooze, elemental or undead)the creature becomes a construct and gains construct traits.

Cr+1
+2 natural ac
SQ:
[clockwork body]
vulnerable(+50% extra dmg) against bludgeoning damage(smashing may harm the small fragile clockwork parts)

[clockwork engine]
Even though this creature is a clockwork creature iit may still have negative hp(it is still powered by its clockworks)
If this creature is winded up(a full round action, provokes AoO) it gains +10ft spd,+10 temporary hp, and + 2 str for 3+str bonus rounds.(usable 1 /day)

[Mechanic body]
This creature may be repaired in order do heal damage, clockwork limbs may be reattached.

This creature may be shut down with a succesful dc 25 disable device check(provokes AoO,disabler must be adjacent to clockwork creature), it may be repaired in order to function again

[Metallic body]
This creatures unarmed attacks does lethal damage.

dr 5 against magic

any suggestions?

It's neat. I have two inputs.

One: does winding it up provoke attacks of opportunity?

Two: I think bludgeoning damage would be more appropriate for the vulnerability. A piercing attack could only damage a few gears, but a strong hit from a club could jar a lot of them so they don't mesh any more.

hmm...you got a point i will change that right away.

You can just give it DR 5/Bludgeoning and Magic so I don't have to perform nasty X + (X/2) calculations =)

Maybe make the Wind Up ability a longer duration. Like, duration = 3 + Str Modifier (Like rage, but constructs don't usually have Con scores so let's say their increased power can only last a limited time or their gears break).

"This creature may be shut down with a succesful dc 25 disable device check."
If only living creatures could be killed with a DC 25 heal check. I think you should drop the disable device thing. Or do something like, anyone with at least 10 ranks in disable device can perform sneak attacks and coups de grace on a clockwork creature, even though this is normally impossible with a construct.

this template may be aquired by any corporeal creature Hey! I'm incorporeal! No, really, looks good! I think it should be immune or even heal damage to electric damage, though. I like Thiez's DR 5/Bludgeoning. The Effigy (sp) Master from Complete Arcane could use this.

One small issue, constucts die when their HP drops to 0, making their instant stabilization useless. Also the template hardly makes the CR raise at all. And lastly a rouge of 10th level or higher could turn off any clockwork creature without even rolling if he had skill mastery, making them laughably weak at higher levels.

If my gnome made it a rogue no less then epic lvl could even try to turn it off it all depends on who makes it

This is how I'd like to see it.

Clockwork Creature

Clockwork creatures live on lawful aligned planes, although they resemble beings found on the Material Plane. They are made entirely out of metal and powered by clockwork parts.

Creating A Clockwork Creature

"Clockwork" is an inherited template that can be added to any corporeal aberration, animal, dragon, fey, giant, humanoid, magical beast, monstrous humanoid, outsider, or vermin.

A clockwork creature uses all the base creature’s statistics and abilities except as noted here. Do not recalculate the creature’s Hit Dice or skill points if its type changes.

Size and Type:
The creature's type changed to construct. Size is unchanged. If the size of a clockwork creature is small or larger, grant it the bonus hitpoints from the construct type. Clockwork creatures encountered on the material plane have the Extraplanar subtype.

Armor Class:
Natural armor improves by +3 (this stacks with any natural armor bonus the base creature has).

Special Attacks:
A clockwork creature retains all the special attacks of the base creature except those that need flesh to function, and also gains the following special ability:
Living Capacitor (Ex): Whenever a clockwork creature is damaged with electricity, every natural attack it makes until the end of its next round deals an extra 1d4 electricity damage..

Special Qualities:
A clockwork creature retains all the special qualities of the base creature and also gains the following.
- Construct traits
- Damage reduction 5/bludgeoning or magic.
- A clockwork creature's natural weapons are treated as magical weapons for the purpose of overcomming damage reduction.
- If the creature has Regeneration X, replace it by Fast Healing X.
- Resistance to Fire 5, Cold 5, Electricity 10
Clockwork Body (Ex): Unlike normal constructs, a clockwork creature can be reduced to negative hitpoints without being destroyed. It suffers the normal penalties for having 0 or negative hitpoints, except that a clockwork creature always becomes stable. If a clockwork creature is reduced to -10 hitpoints or lower, it is destroyed.
Wind Up (Ex): Once per day, someone can wind up a clockwork creature. It then gains a +10ft. enhancement bonus to speed, 10 temporary hitpoints, and a +4 enhancement bonus to strength. These bonuses last for 3 + new strength modifier rounds (minimum of 1).

Abilities
A clockwork creature loses its constitution score and gains +2 strength and -2 dexterity.

Environment:
Any lawful aligned plane.

Challenge Rating:
As the base creature +1
