| Kevida9711-13-04, 01:26 PM | Does anyone remember this article from the 1E and 2E days and has there been a 3E version of this article? I.E. I am talking about the Yellow, Orange and Purple Dragons. Thanks for any info! :) |
| Kevida9711-28-04, 01:23 PM | :bump: Anyone? |
| RavinRay11-28-04, 04:58 PM | Nope, no official 3E/3.5E versions are available, AFAIK. The Creature Catalog might have 'em. The yellow dragon of Mulhorand in the Forgotten Realms is a different beast altogether, and so far, it hasn't been updated either (it's not in Serpent Kingdoms if I'm not mistaken). If you want to be strict about completing the color wheel, new chromatic dragons should be yellow (red+green), cyan (green+blue), and magenta (blue+red), in accordance with the electromagnetic spectrum. :ayyyy!: |

| Escef12-01-04, 09:51 AM | If you want to be strict about completing the color wheel, new chromatic dragons should be yellow (red+green), cyan (green+blue), and magenta (blue+red), in accordance with the electromagnetic spectrum. :ayyyy!: That really depends. Working in a printing plant, we have different colors than you propose. We use four colors to get full color on the printed page: black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. We often substitute the names blue and red for cyan and magenta. Red+blue=purple, blue+yellow=green, and yellow+red=orange. Your primary colors are red, blue, and green in light theory; and red, blue, and yellow in pigment theory. So, it all is really just a big sloppy mess. |
| Kyy'Dakh12-01-04, 11:10 AM | The big sloppy mess is also known as the subtractive spectrum (CMYK) vs. additive spectrum (RGB). RGB is generally used for situations where you mix or measure light emissions (TV, Comp monitors, etc.), and CMYK is used for stuff that reflects light, rather than emitting it (ink on paper, paint on canvas, etc). Since dragons usually don't emit light from their scales, I'd go with the subtractive spectrum, but that's just my opinion. |
