sorry im still very new to d&d but was interested in getting the monster manuals, now my confusion is that theres the monster manual III with a dragon skull on it?, theres the monster manual: core rulebook III with scales and a small eye on it, and then theres also monster manual: core rulebook III 3.5 edition with a larger eye in the middle. So whats the difference in these books, are they all the same or do i need them all. I apologize if this is a stupid question, but i just want to know which i should buy, thanks for the help.

The only one you need is the Monster Manual 3.5 Edition. The third you mentioned. The second MM you asked about is an older one (3.0), and may be considered obsolete. Those two contain very similiar information. The MM III (The skull) is a supplement, and not vital. It's still good to have, though.

Unless you're DMing, you might not even need a monster manual.
