I've noticed that the spells create undead and create greater undead do not grant you control over the summoned creatures. If I were a necromancer what would be the best way to gain long-term control over any kind of creature that I created this way?

Casting a heightened command undead is your best bet. It is basically charm person for your rotting friends, but with a 1 day/level duration.

I guess so. I suppose once I've commanded the undead once and I recast the spell before the other one ends I can reasonably ask him to fail his will save on purpose.

Hmmm yes the master ring and the slave ring. That might work if I manage to train my undead over time..... If its a good undead slave I will give him HP and treats. If he's a bad undead I will hurt him badly.

this is one of my pet peeves.... how they nerf Necromancy... as if... by the time you are 6th level and can make a skeleton.... it would be too powerful if you could Control it, too.... poppycock!! By then Druids are summoning Dire Bears!!!

The zombies and skeletons animated with animate dead are automatically under your control. It is just create undead and create greater undead that makes for uncontrolled minions to be.
