| Rawveggie02-13-06, 07:15 PM | Hello, I am trying to fit a creature into a campaign and am having some problems. The creature is a contruct but it has an Intelligent score (it is from the MM II) and I noticed that this creature had no skills or feats in its stat block, even though its HD would indicate that it should have them (even a 1 HD creature should have at least one feat). I started looking around to see if there were precedents for this strangeness. In the MM there is only one construct that has an Int score, and that is a Homunculus. A Homunculus has both skills and feats congruent with its HD as a construct. The other constructs in the MM have no Int score and thus no skills or feats. I looked through other books as well and determined that every construct I found which had an Int score had at least some skills and feats (though the progression on most seemed not to match that of the MM chart). This leads me to three possible conclusions: 1.) The monster from the MM II that I am working with is incorrectly listed with no skills or feats and I should add them as appropriate (the monster is not part of the errata for MM II). 2.) For some reason this construct has no skills or feats for a design reason that is lost to me and not listed specifically in its description. 3.) Some other reason that I have not thought of. Any help in unraveling this mystery would be most appreciated. Thanks, Raw |

The monster from the MM II that I am working with is incorrectly listed with no skills or feats and I should add them as appropriate (the monster is not part of the errata for MM II). Close, but no cigar. The MM II was writen under 3.0 rules; in 3.0, Constructs never recieved feats or skills. When 3.5 was released, the monsters in MMII were converted. You can read the changed here (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/DnD35_Monster_Manual_2.zip) You'll find several changed entries as a result of the conversion. |
