CR adjustment <--> Level adjustment? [Archive] - Wizards Community

If a template, for example, gives +3 CR, what would be the level adjustment?

It's probably not a fixed thing, so let me ask ahead of time: about what would half-golem LA be?

04-01-07, 10:02 PM Level Adjustment is usually higher than CR-adjustment, but it's not a fixed ratio. For instance, the CR-adjustment of the Vampire template is +2, but the LA is +8. The Ghost template also has a +2 CR-adjustment, but it has an LA of +5.

Other templates have equal CR-adjustment and LA.

As for Half-Golem, the Level Adjustment would likely be different depending on which type of Golem you select.

Also, some templates aren't actually *meant* for players - like Half-Golem. The spell immunities alone put it out of real playability; a PC half-golem would be, shall we say, extremely difficult to balance. Thus, the template never received a LA.
