| chrobry05-10-04, 11:24 PM | New creature, but I am not sure as to proper CR for it. It is pretty tough due to its DR, but even low level cleric can turn it. The creature is created via new spell called "bone to iron" which transmutes regular skelton's bones into iron. Any critism is helpful. Skeleton, Iron Medium Undead Hit Dice: 6d12 (42 hp) Initiative: +0 Speed: 30 ft. (6 squares) AC: 20 (+8 Natural, +2 Heavy Shield) Attacks: Claw +7 melee (1d6+4), or Weapon +4 Full Attacks: Claw +7 melee (1d6+4) x2, Face/Reach: 5 ft / 5 ft Special Qualities: Damage reduction 10/bludgeoning, Damage Reduction 5/-, darkvision 60 ft.,, undead traits, fire heals Saves: Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +5 Abilities: Str 18, Dex 11, Con -, Int -, Wis 10, Cha 1 Climate/Terrain: Temperate Mountain Challenge Rating: 4 Alignment: Always Neutral Evil Iron Skeleton are recent construction, created from regular skeleton on which a spell "Bone to Iron" was cast. They have metalic glow to them, and make metal noise when walking. Except when noted below they have same characteristics as regular skeletons. Undead Traits: -No Constitution score. -Darkvision out to 60 feet. -Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). -Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, and death effects. -Not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. Immune to damage to its physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), as well as to fatigue and exhaustion effects. -Cannot heal damage on its own if it has no Intelligence score, although it can be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures. The fast healing special quality works regardless of the creature's Intelligence score. -Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). -Uses its Charisma modifier for Concentration checks. -Not at risk of death from massive damage, but when reduced to 0 hit points or less, it is immediately destroyed. -Not affected by raise dead and reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrection and true resurrection can affect undead creatures. These spells turn undead creatures back into the living creatures they were before becoming undead. -Proficient with its natural weapons, all simple weapons, and any weapons mentioned in its entry. -Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Undead not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Undead are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor. -Undead do not breathe, eat, or sleep. Immunity to Cold (Ex): Skeletons are not affected by cold, however cold slows down Iron Skeleton for 1d4 rounds as per Slow spell Fire Heals(Ex): Fire attacks heals the Skeleton 1 point per hit dice of damage. Damage Reduction 10/Bludgeoning: Skeletons lack flesh or internal organs. Damage Reduction 5/-: The Iron bones gives this Skeleton ability to ignore most damage. |

Also, you might want to lower the natural armor and stick a chain shirt on it, since I see no reason why it wouldn't wear one. Then there is one other problem, though of course it's not your fault ... I have had my own Iron Skeleton for a long time. I will post it on this board after it has seen action in my PBP game. The PCs have seen one, but it hasn't animated yet, so the campaign log doesn't prove that it's a monster. But it is, and I just wanted to state that ASAP so no one suspects mine wasn't original. See this (http://p223.ezboard.com/fbylanfrm8.showMessageRange?topicID=19.t opic&start=141&stop=160), the ninth post (the long one), and this (http://p223.ezboard.com/fbylanfrm8.showMessageRange?topicID=7.to pic&start=54&stop=54). There are many notable similarities, though mine is a CR 15 construct. You might want to make the DR the same as mine, given how the metals seem to work: DR 10/blunt or adamantine DR 5/- |

So I guess I am not that original :), I like the adition of Adamantine to the DR, I will use that. Can't give out the story line since it is possible that my players read this board, however this being can not be a construct and certainly not CR 15. ::: You see Chrobry, rub his hands together and with an evil glow in his eyes he turns back to the parchment writing down plans. Occasionally a chuckle escapes his lips, and all the character feel strange, cold shiver runing down their spines.:::: |
