If I apply a template that is CR+2 to a monster that has a CR of "class level -2", for example do these cancel out? For example, a half-troll goblin - would this be CR1 (1-2+2=1) if I gave it a single level of Barbarian? On another note, do sub-one CRs turn into fractions? I see from DMG p38 that the next CR below 1 is 1/2 (e.g. dwarf warrior). Do I just keep reducing the fraction with each negative CR I apply? Looking at the CRs in the index at the back of the MM, these go 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8 which would correspond to CR0, CR-1, CR-2, CR-3. So a 1st level kobold is CR1-3=-2 which becomes CR1/4 (as in MM p161). Cheers John
