If you are just making him awakened, (that is, +2 HD and the mental scores) I would say he is CR +0 or +1 at best.

The monster manual says that advancing an animal by HD grants it a +1 CR per 3HD advanced. The formula doesn't really work past 10 HD though. A 33 HD elephant isn't going to be CR 14, it will be lucky to be CR 10-11.
