CR Question (Trapmaking) [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-24-06, 01:53 PM If I make an NPC craft a trap, then wait for the PCs to trigger it to attack, is the CR of the encounter increased?

For example, I am having a CR 2 NPC make a CR 1 trap. When the PCs trigger the trap and have to face the NPC, is it a CR 2 encounter and a CR 1 encounter or simply a CR 2 encounter?
