Basically, how much of a CR & LA adjustment would a template get if I added on Death Throes, similar to the Balor ability? I'm wanting to make an Exploding template, mostly for use with Zombies. Anybody have any ideas?

if it deals the same damage as the balor's then CR+1.

Probably not what you're looking for, but there's a feat in Savage Species that does this for creatures with an Elemental subtype.

I remember that, but I'm looking mostly to put it onto some Zombies.

CR +1 does make sense, though. I'll probably take the range down a bit and give it HD-dependant damage. Something like 1d6+1d6/2 HD. Thanks!

Libris Mortis has a feat chain that does this. Look it up.

Again, very hard to tack onto Zombies, especially low-level, high-number mobs.

The feat is for the necromancer, not the undead. Two feats total, deals negative energy damage.

Hmm... Maybe, then... I dunno, I still would prefer the template, but it sounds like its worth checking out.
