Hello everyone!

Well I was bored at work today and decided to work on a monster that would be fun to use a few times in the D&D World. It's the :

ALIEN DRONE

from the Alien(s) movies by Riddley Scott and James Cameron... and the others.

If there are any Aliens amateurs out there, I am sure that there are different types of Alien monsters in various video games and comic books but my monster is based on the basic Alien, the drone, the one you see the most often in the aforementionned movies. After a quick google and forum search I found nothing on this.

I am not totally proficient with making monsters yet and this was done using only the SRD because my PHB is 5500km away.

Here it is :

ALIEN DRONE

Size/Type: Medium Magical Beast

Hit Dice: 6d10+12 (36hp)

Initiative: +9

Speed: 50 ft. (10 squares), Climb 50 ft

Armor Class: 21 (+5 Dex, +6 natural), touch 15, flat-footed 16

Base Attack/Grapple: +6/+11

Attack: Claw +11 melee (1d6+1) or bite +11 melee (1d6+2) or Tail Slap +11 melee (1d6+3)

Full Attack: 2 claws +11 melee (1d6+1) and bite +11 melee (1d6+2) and Tail Slap +11 melee (1d6+3)

Space/Reach: 5 ft./5 ft.

Special Attacks: Rend (2d4+3), Trip, Pounce, Rake, Stunning Tail Slap.

Special Qualities: Darvision 60Ft., Low Light Vision 120Ft., Scent, Spider Climb, Acid Blood, Hive Mind, Acid Immunity, Fast Healing 1, Fear Immunity.

Saves: Fort +7, Ref +10, Will +1

Abilities: Str 15, Dex 20, Con 14, Int 5, Wis 10, Cha 7

Skills: Balance +13, Climb +10, Hide +15, Intimidate +6, Jump +10, Listen +10, Move Silently +15, Spot +10, Survival +8.

Feats: Multiattack, Run, Improved Initiative, Track, Weapon Finesse.

Environment: Any

Organization: Any

Challenge Rating: ouch!

Treasure: None

Alignment: Always Neutral Evil

Advancement: ?

Level Adjustment: ?

+8 Racial Bonus to Balance, Climb, Hide, Intimidate, Jump, Listen, Move Silently, Spot and Survival.

Spider Climb (Ex) : As spell but without speed penalties.

Acid Blood (Ex) : Aliens have acid for blood and so each melee hit dealt to an Alien Drone deals 1d4 acid damage to the attacker.

Stunning Tail Slap (Ex) : As Stunning Fist but the DC is Strength based.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please tell me what you think, please correct my monster creation mistakes. For example I was not sure about the Feats to Racial Hit Die ratio, and the same for the Saving Throws. I wasn't sure about the size I was hesitating between medium and large (long). But being large would have given the monster too much strength I feel compared to my vision of the Alien. I wasn't sure about the monster type : I hesitated between Monstrous Humanoid and Magical Beast. Feel free to give suggestions to modify this beast. Any other abilities or splatbook feat suggestions? I have no idea on the CR of this thing. As for his HD and stats, they are very open to debate.

If this goes well, I will work on the Queen and other types of Aliens (with knowledgeable people's help) and maybe even a Predator.

Cheers!

This is the fully evolved one that kills em all in the original right? And I'd say it would probably be large but with some sort of special ability that allows it to move through small spaces and such as if it were medium. Also what about infesting them with eggs? This all of course assumes that its the one im thinking of from the first one.

I'd give it sneak attack +1d6 or +2d6? It never strikes from anything but concealment..
Apart from that, it's real cool :) you should get bored at work some more..

I thought the one in the first movie was the same as the hundreds in the sequel "Aliens" :S I seem to remember some are larger than others and could be considered Large in D&D sizes but I just think that the creature is powerful enough as is with all its special attacks without getting more reach and strength.

Hehe thanks. I would agree with sneak attack but would this kind of creature be sentient and intelligent enough to think about which body parts to strike? However even cats and dogs have some knowledge about where to strike to hurt, they go for the throat alot.

Thanks for the feedback, any comments on the mechanical stuff? The overall power? How do you view the "Alien"?
