| drakintana07-23-05, 12:56 PM | Does anybody have/know where to find rules on inventing new constucts. Specifically about required cl, dc for building body, limit on # of spells that can be put in one, required spells, whene you have to cast those spells, and anything else you can think of. |
| drakintana07-26-05, 05:22 AM | :bump: :bump: :D anything. anything at all. |

These are: 1. 5,000gp per HD 2. 50,000gp per size catagory larger than large 3. Berserk and other weaknesses drop their price 4. Special powers increase cost (try using magic item guidelines even if the devs might not have) 5. Basic models should have a attack bonus with their slams equal to their HD +1 to +5 (Flesh +1, Clay +3, Stone +4, Iron +5). 6. Healing from elemental attacks works at 1hp per 3 damage A more in depth look at the 5th rule can give us some insights, but the 3rd and 4th skew the results. Using the HD and size rules we can strip the golems down to find out what these bonuses might mean. Clay Cost: -15k Weaknesses: Berserk (unstoppable), 3 spells Strengths: Cursed wound, haste, DR vs blugeoning and adamantine Attack Modifier: +3 (+4 hasted) Flesh Cost: -25k Weaknesses: Berserk, Fire and Cold Attack Modifier: +1 Stone Cost: 20k Weaknesses: 2 spells Strengths: Slow (2nd as single target), Complete healing via mud to rock Attack Modifier: +4 Cost Minus Spell Value: 14k Iron Cost: 60k Weaknesses: Electricity, rust spells Strengths: Breath weapon (4th based on cloud kill) Attack Modifier: +5 Cost Minus Spell Value: 24k The formula used to find spell value used was Spell Level * Min caster level even if the duration didn't match up. So as you can see there is so much adhoc content even in this attempt that there is clearly no real ruleset for pricing your own constructs. The closest I can guide you to a real rule would be saying that their slam's attack bonus over their HD should add around an extra bonus squared * 1,000gp. Then try to balance their other ability scores (in this case dex and mental scores which should normally be low for golems). |
| DarkerDreams07-26-05, 10:15 PM | mongoose put out a book under 3rd ed called (apropriately enough) Constructs... its moderately useful- though many of us would like something a little more comprehensive from WotC. |
| Nezzadar Respawned07-27-05, 10:37 AM | Construct rules change with the type. Check the 3.5 books. |
| mvincent07-28-05, 05:00 PM | Does anybody have/know where to find rules on inventing new constucts. The golem rules (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/v35/MonstersG.rtf) allow you to vary HD and size, and I imagine shape can be altered as desired (within reason) by the creator as well. Alternately, the rules for Animated objects (http://www.wizards.com/d20/files/v35/MonstersIntro-A.rtf) can cover just about anything you can think up, and can be made permanent. |
