| Davus Antonius10-25-03, 02:29 PM | Is there any more info on creating undead creatures other than the Monster Manual? It only gives the basics for the monster type, and I'd like more info than that. (ie. HD range for size, etc.) |
| Ovistavin10-25-03, 07:10 PM | The animate dead spell in the PHB and the other create undead spells. |
| Gingerbread Guy10-25-03, 09:20 PM | Hiho, To answer your ACTUAL question, no, you aren't going to find better rules for creating Undead than those in the MM. Check out the 3.5e MMI. It has some good templates for creating skeletons and zombies and so on. ~Ginger |
| Davus Antonius10-26-03, 01:13 PM | Oh well. :( I was kinda hoping I could create an undead monster without going the route of adding a template. Thanks for the info. |
| Delfedd10-26-03, 01:39 PM | i think that Davus Antonius means that he wants to make his own undead thingie |
| MightyMightyThundarr10-26-03, 03:16 PM | Well, couple of questions: Is your undead critter basically humanoid, or is it in some other form? Was it created as undead, or was it a formerly living creature that was transformed into undead? Is it intelligent? If so, what are its goals and motivations? |
| Davus Antonius10-26-03, 08:35 PM | Ok... it is humanoid, I'm still not sure if I want it to have once been human or not though. It will have an alternate form of a fog cloud that it takes to stalk it's prey. |
| MightyMightyThundarr10-27-03, 12:30 PM | Well, from its nature it sounds like a good bet would be to first determine what you want its CR to be, and then create a vampiric ranger that would have the same CR. That should give you some good ideas about the sort of powers that an undead stalker of the living would have at that CR. From there, the next step is to add or remove powers as you see fit, while trying to keep it generally in line (power-wise) with that vampiric ranger. In the end they don't have to be anything alike if you don't want it to be - it is just a means of making sure your critter is a fair challenge to the players. |
