Creature advancement question [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-14-05, 02:00 PM When advancing a creature by class levels, does it gain better DC for abilities/size increase?

take a drogon for instance it's breath weapon is DC (10 + 1/2 HD + Con) so if it has 4 class levels does it's beath weapon go up 2 DC?

what about a Hound Archon it's advancement is 7-9 HD (medium); 10-18 HD (large) so if it has 4 class levels does it increase in size?

creating a BBEG for my campain and I need to know soon....

09-14-05, 02:16 PM To expand on that statement, monster abilities are generally only affected by their racial HD, not by class levels. Exceptions exist, but they're explicitly stated as such. A dragon's size and breath weapon DC are not affected by class levels, but a dragon's spell casting ability is affected by--specifically, it stacks with--sorcerer class levels.
