Talisman 04-21-06, 04:46 PM	MM2 has some basic guidelines on monster stats. MM1 has a whole chapter called "making monsters." What kinds of critters are you looking for in your campaign? I have a ton of homebrew monsters. heck, a quick jaunt through this forum will net you more homebrew monsters than you can shake a mind flayer at. :coolcthul
Myst_the_Moonscout 04-23-06, 03:04 AM	An issue of Dragon Magazine has an article titled "How to Create a Monster," I use it all the time. It pretty much goes over each monster type and what sort of stats it can be expected to have. It's 3.0 though so the "beast" category is still in there. The article is either from the October 2000 issue or was reprinted in Oct. 2000 (that's the date on the bottom of the page).
