Hi,
I'm looking for a creature with a theme around bad luck or something similar for a party around level 12 - 14. It should support a group of Beshaba cultists (of the FR setting) so, preferably, it should have a stag-like characteristic (antlers?). Any ideas for me?

You could use a centaur hexblade (from complete warrior, I think).

Centaur is definetely a great idea, as I can add the antlers for fluff, I guess. What about evil Hybsyl (sp?)?
Aside from that, I was actually looking for something close to the ol' luck eater from 1st ed. I found it converted in the Creature Catalogue, but first of all is CR2, and second its pretty infamous in my group, so I doubt it would work.

If you got the MMIII you could used an advanced (crazy advanced) Vasuthaunt. Dark, shadowy, undead, and very unlucky. No antlers though. I suppose you could alter it's appearance cosmetically.

I'd go with Curse Spirits, a type of undead from the Miniatures Handbook. They're not really dangerous by themselves, but just standing next to one gives you a -2 penalty to all saves. Perfect when combined with a hexblade. They're also incorporeal, making them annoyingly hard to kill without the ability to turn undead.

If you really want antlers, though, try the Peryton from Monsters of Faerūn. Medium-sized eagle with the head of a demonic purple stag and a set of vicious fangs. Weird but effective.

Whoops! Who cast animate dead on this thread?

Anyway, the bad luck creature I settled for was a tauric medusa / dire elk ("stag"). With the stag physical stats, she makes a fairly aggressive fighter build, and her twisted beaty approach is very fitting to Beshaba.

I also had an encounter with Will o Wisps (to lure the unwary of the beaten path).

In addition, I had some flavor ideas:

- had a rooms floor covered in the shards of broken mirrors
- nailed dead cats on some doors
- had a ladder on a wall you had to pass under to get to a secret door
- had a field full of withered cloverleaves (sp?)

Any more ideas for future reference?
:D

BTW: Perytons - didnt go for them, as they are supposed to be in cold climates, and I am playing lake of steam. But had the same idea. Great minds think alike.

The doomed mindengu (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=352933) should be thematically appropriate.
