Halgar 04-07-06, 04:50 PM	In his "Creature Incarnations" column "Creatures that Cannot Be," Robert Wiese said: Half-Dragon Werewolf: The half-dragon template is inherited, and the lycanthrope template can be acquired, so this creature might be possible if the lycanthrope template could be applied to dragons. But a dire werewolf that breathes fire is pretty scary. You can read the article Here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eo/20060407a) He wrote the column about template applications that break the rules. But you can have a half-dragon werewolf without breaking the rules. The Dragon Disciple prestige class from DMG 3.5 page 183 is open to any non-dragon sorcerer with the right skills, and it makes creatures into half-dragons. All you need is a werewolf sorcerer who decides that he isn't enough of an outcast from society and needs to become even weirder. Come to think of it, outsiders, the undead, and even certain constructs could follow this path. --Scott

It's a glob of amorphous substance, but it manages to have wings and a breath weapon, plus bite and claws. And there's nothing to stop you from having a half-celestial half-dragon half-elf. So, that's a total of three halves, and where does the 50% human fit in? Half red dragon toad. Pitiful little thing with 1pt of claw damage or bite damage. When provoked, it deals a massive cone of fire, and then returns to being useless/powerless for the rest of the day. Celestial half-celestial hound archon. How's that for redundancy?

Mist of Shadows 04-07-06, 11:18 PM	Actually I think the half celestial template will work on the hound archon. The best I have seen for fun was the half fiend solar :) No more drunken benges and sleeping with the sucubus.
runestar 04-08-06, 02:55 AM	Theres a reason why you can't apply every template to every creature... So long as it accords with the RAW, you can, since the half dragon/celestial/fiend templates have among the slackest restrictions ever. :) The half-celestial dretch... :P

JiCi 04-08-06, 09:34 AM	The half-dragon template can be applied to corporal creatures. A humanoid (shapechanger) is a corporal creature. Beside, the union of a half-dragon with an afflited lycanthrope can result in a half-dragon lycanthrope. The creature would be a dragon (shapechanger) that possesses half-dragon traits only in hormal and hybrid forms but not in animal form. It's all about layering templates in the right order to get nice combos. Here are a few examples: - Human (1) + Winged (2) + Insectile (3) = Beetlefolk *You cannot apply the winged template to an aberration, but you can apply the insectile template to a monstrous humanoid. - Phoelarch (1) + Winged (2) + Half-Fire elemental (3) = Chosen of the Phoenix *You cannot apply the winged template to an outsider, but you can apply the half-elemental template to a monstrous humanoid. (Phoelarches are from MMIII)

Whisper_Swiftblade 04-13-06, 03:28 PM	If yopu realy want to be strange try and make a half-dragon who is the son of two half-dragons who where the children of cross-bred dragons. For example if your grate grandparents where a gold/silver dragon and a human on your fathers side and a copper/bronze dragon and a human on your mothers side you have a half human with four different kinds of dragon/breath weapon. DM's don't let this happen.

Well, there's nothing anywhere saying you need a half-human anywhere in there. Lesse. Smack a Celestial template on an elf. Have it have sex with a dragon. There you go.

Patrick Draken-Korin 05-10-06, 12:51 AM	don't forget that half-elves breed true; half-elf mother ascend to become a (half-elven) angel, half-elf father becomes a dragon deciple and eventually, through a ritual under a millenial eclipse becomes a full (half-elven) metalic dragon. or just say that it's a bloodline thing that crops up every so often; the Great Houses of the Threkillish empire are all decended from something or other (fiend, celiestial, slaad, formian?, dragon, far-realmer, fey, etc), the ruling lords & ladies must show some ancestry or another, and the imperial throne this the biggest mixed bag of the bunch (current emperor is half-dryad/red & silver dragon/solor/far-realmer). personally? i usually don't use the many templates, other than the half-this-or-that's, alignment related ones, and undead thingies. why? it's more fun to take the template as a guideline and customize the critter further. insectile ogre? naw, Gremmoka, 8 armed mostrous humanoids created by the wizard Kismesk in the 11th century, that have 2/day scorching ray eye-rays and no sense of hearing. on, the other hand... i once made up a half-everything dragon. great wyrm gold, plus every half-dragon template that was chromatic, metalic, gem, planar, and faerunian. of course i never actually used that mostrosity. it's hp were way off from it's CR. on the other other hand, there are the specific half-somethings; as far as i know there are only the Durzagon (half-fiend duergar) and the Dreagloth (half-fiend drow), but there's still room for more. half-red dragon kobold? half-eladrin elf? half-dryad halfling?

Rohano 05-10-06, 05:25 PM	There's like 8 PrCs that make you draconic or half-dragon, plus all those Dragon Heritage feats that came out. Now anyone can be a dragon, because there's like a million ways to become one. I once ran an NPC paladin who became a werelion before gaining Divine Health. So he had a sorta divine rage whenever he was fighting evil... *roar* *smites you with giant claw plus giant sword*
